Gateway Address

What is a Gateway Address?

A Gateway Address (or default gateway) is a router interface connected to the local network that sends packets out of the local network.  For example, a typical Gateway Address may look like this:  100.000.000.001 or 192.168.1.1.

How can I find my gateway Address?

On an ipad or iphone:

First, tap on the Settings app, then on Wi-Fi. You will  need to be connected to a router or access point (IP Address).

Then, tap on the 'i' to the right of the network to which your device is connected and you will see its IP address, along with your "router" or gateway address (see below).

On a Tablet or smartphone:

Android devices differ depending on the manufacturer and the modifications they've made to Android.

Generally, you should go to Settings, then Wi-Fi, and then tap on the name of the network to which you're connected and look for "Gateway" or "Router".
